Create a Coping Strategy Toolbox Assignment

Completion requirements

Students will choose and create one coping strategy from the following articles and then use it during the next week before reflecting on it:

  • Read the 10+ Coping Skills Worksheets for Adults and Youth https://positivepsychology.com/coping-skills-worksheets/  Emotions mask would be a fun activity—students can draw emotions based on how they are feeling now or at different times of day in the classroom.
  • Decatrophizing worksheet good for classroom discussions -https://positivepsychology.com/wp-content/uploads/Decatastrophizing-Worksheet-2.pdf or https://positivepsychology.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Challenging-Catastrophic-Thinking-Worksheet.pdf  
  • Any sheets could be used for assignments, discussion, reflection exercises.
  • Kid sheets are good to use in the classroom with children of various ages.


Assignment:

  1. Describe what coping strategy you used. 
  2. Discuss what you learned.
  3. What changed after using the strategy? 
  4. Discuss how you will use it or something different in the future to cope.
